vectorcam milling 3D

Milling 3D

With the module 3D Milling vectorcam provides an advanced technology for the calculation of 3D toolpaths. Both simple and complex parts can be programmed in a very fast way.

The editing occurs within specified areas or raw part depending. A collision monitoring observes the model geometry as well as defined clamping and machining limits during the whole calculation of milling paths.

The tool is checked with the surfaces to be machined. The holder collision check ensures safe roughing of surfaces and the blank of active machining. When finishing on surfaces, vectorcam offers the possibility to spare or connect these areas.

From Highspeed Cutting to removal of rest material

vectorcam has a wide range of different machining strategies. They enable high-quality processing of free-forms down to the smallest detail. This results in optimal processes for efficient and economical production. The 3D module includes among other things High-speed cutting (HSC), trochoidal-speed cutting (TSC), zigzag-shaped sizing and automatic removal of rest material.

3D milling not only for tool and mold making

Hybrid roughing

An important prerequisite for economical production is the fast and efficient removal of large quantities of material. vectorcam therefore offers different techniques for roughing your workpieces. The function “Hybrid roughing” removes high material amounts via high deliveries followed by smaller Z-constant upward cuts. This method significantly reduces the milling time on the CNC machine.

In the left picture you can see the steps through big delivery depths. In the second image, these steps were removed by smaller Z-constant upward cuts. The right picture shows the corresponding toolpaths.

HSC roughing

The HSC strategy is characterized among other things by soft tangential tool paths.

Further advantages are for example:

  • low lateral offset with an optimum pressure angle
  • low stress on the tool = longer tool life
  • full use of the cutting edge length of the tool
  • shorter machining times
  • soft tangential toolpaths
Blank-dependent roughing

Avoiding air cuts is an important aspect of 3D milling to ensure the fastest and most efficient CNC machining possible.

For this reason, standard machining can use both a rectangle (Figure 1), a 3D model of any shape (Figure 2), or any closed 2D contour.

Finishing

vectorcam offers a variety of different 3D finishing strategies.Just pick one of the different methods - depending on which function suits your model best:

  • Finishing Z-constant (including mold intersections)
  • Finishing x-parallel or along any angle
  • Automatic level ranges / constant roughness depth (surface-based or with guide curve)
  • 3D fillet inner
  • 3D projection milling (3D engraving)
  • Residual material in several functions
  • different delivery types disposable, zig-zag and spiral

With the 3D-Engraving any text as well as geometries can be projected on a 3D model. The machining then takes place in several depth sections.

Rest material

Removing rest material is not always easy, it often costs additional manual labor and thus time. vectorcam reliably removes rest material and thus provides a better result.

Rest material processing in 3D roughing is possible on the basis of unmachined aswell as predecessor tools. In 3D finishing, the rest material detection can be used in various functions.

For example, you can use the function "Finishing" in the Z-constant / X-parallel / constant surface roughness / 3D inner fillet to create smaller areas.

What our customers say

"I would like to thank all vectorcam employees for the friendly and speedy solution to our problem. We appreciate this service immensely. Kind regards and a big thank you from Switzerland."

Daniel Boesch | Hitachi Energy Ltd.

Thanks to vectorcam, we now have completely new possibilities in production. From relatively simple components at the beginning, we can now process complex 3D contours thanks to VECTORCAM and save a lot in production by shortening the work paths. Programming and support works flawlessly. Our best decision since the foundation of our company!

Timo Dasing, Timo Dasing -Zerspanung & Industriemontage

We found the training and support during the introduction phase of the program by vectorcam GmbH very commendable. Questions that still arise sporadically one year after the introduction are answered quickly and competently by the hotline of vectorcam.

Polymehr

We also find vectorcam's hotline optimal. It is fast, flexible and uncomplicated, which we really appreciate, especially in today's fast-paced world.

H. Kittner GmbH

We can't imagine ever working without 'vector' again - there is no better CAD/CAM system for us.

Feinmechanik Klein GmbH

There are plenty of extremely inexpensive software solutions that run optimally on the machines. Like the vectorcam system, for example, which we use.

Haas Europa

Basically I can say that the decision for vectorcam was one of my best decisions and still is today.

Tattoo Tools

vectorcam is very easy to learn and intuitive to use. We are able to teach new employees the basic knowledge for drawing workpiece contours or drawing and generating NC data for our engraving machine within a few hours.

Knauf Schmuckdesign

We have been working with vectorcam for over 17 years now and are still very satisfied. The service is fast and very accessible. Thanks to the update service, the latest vectorcam version is always available, which enables smooth operation despite increasing complex requirements.

Jan Kirmse

We like working with vectorcam because it is easy to use and delivers exact results very quickly. The milling structures that vectorcam generates are also always convincing.

Zahnradfabrik Hoeltje

With the new vectorcam version and the user interface, we now produce much faster. We achieve our goals with significantly fewer clicks. And best of all, our machine runtimes have also shortened considerably. Thank you vectorcam! Keep it up!

MG Technics

For our precision engineering and laser processing, we work with the 4-axis module from vectorcam. We use it to laser a wide variety of contours in different tubes. The results are absolutely satisfactory and the operation of the software is very simple.

Askea Feinmechanik GmbH

Even with simple drilling programs, we produce up to 70% faster and more effectively with vectorcam. At the same time, the error rate has dropped, which gives us security within production. In addition, there is a very good, fast and, above all, reliable service. Super!
